GAA World Games 2019

The week-long games-filled event will take place from July 28th – August 1st in the Waterford Institute of Technology’s Sports Campus in Carriganore, with the finals taking place on Friday August 2nd in Croke Park in Dublin. With approximately 100 teams taking part, the World Games will include more than 500 games being played throughout the event and will also see Waterford GAA Clubs twin with our travelling teams.
The 2019 World Games will focus on the four codes; Gaelic Football, Ladies Football, Hurling & Camogie, which will then be broken down into two tiers; Native born players and Irish born players. Each team has a panel of 13 players and teams from as far away as Argentina, South Africa & the Middle East will be present. The GAA alongside Waterford City Council will host an Opening Parade on Sunday July 28th to welcome our travelling teams.
It is expected that approximately 5,000 people will be involved in this year’s games between players, team officials, administrators, families & supporters.
Following the finals in Croke Park, the GAA will be hosting a World Games Closing Event in the stadium. Further information on tickets for the event will be made available on this website in due course
